Cartridge not recognized? Here's how to fix it quickly and easily!
If an icon starts flashing on your printer panel in a specific location (as shown below), this may indicate a cartridge recognition issue. On some models, this issue may also be indicated by the message "E0" and a flashing light.

What is an unrecognized cartridge?
An unrecognized cartridge means that the printer cannot correctly identify the cartridge or the information it contains.
How to fix an unrecognized cartridge problem?
1. Check the reference of your cartridges
Make sure you have installed a cartridge that is compatible with your printer. You will find the correct part number on the sticker located in the cartridge hatch of your device.
2. Remove the cartridges
Start by removing the cartridges from the printer.
3. Clean the cartridge chips and the inside of the printer
A good cleaning can often solve the problem. Here's how to do it:
- Recommended equipment:
* Isopropyl alcohol or eyeglass wipes (bleach-free)
* Lint-free or lightly dampened cloth
- Areas to clean:
* Cartridge chip: This part acts as the "brain" of the cartridge, where information is exchanged. Minor dirt (dust, fingerprints) can interfere with recognition. Gently clean this area.
* Printer connectors: This is the printer's "communication port" with the cartridge. Keep this area clean, as residue can interfere with information exchange.
4. Try again after cleaning
After cleaning, reinstall the cartridges and check if they are recognized. If the problem persists, you can repeat the process several times to ensure optimal cleanliness.
5. Replace the cartridge if necessary
If, despite these steps, the cartridge is still not recognized, it is likely defective. In this case, we recommend replacing it.
