What to do if your printer doesn't recognize your ink cartridge?
It may happen, after installing a new cartridge, that your printer displays an error message such as "cartridge not recognized", "incompatible" or "empty"... Rest assured, this is a common problem, particularly with remanufactured or compatible cartridges, and in the vast majority of cases, it is easily resolved.
Why doesn't the printer recognize the cartridge?
Here are the most common reasons:
1. The microchip is not read correctly
Printers detect cartridges using a chip. If the chip is misplaced, dirty, or simply misread, the cartridge may be rejected.
2. Update the printer firmware
Some manufacturers (notably HP) push updates that block unofficial cartridges. This is a controversial but common marketing strategy.
3. Cartridge not inserted correctly
A simple bad clip or a small displacement can prevent the cartridge from being properly detected.
4. Wrong or persistent message
The printer sometimes remembers old cartridges and displays an incorrect message.
Our solutions to solve the problem 1- Disable automatic printer updates. Request our step-by-step instructions via email: info@cartoucheverte.fr
This does not impact your printer or your manufacturer's warranty.
2- Forced restart:
• remove all cartridges,
• turn off the printer via the cable or the plug directly,
• wait 5 to 10 minutes,
• reconnect and wait for the reset to complete,
• Wipe the cartridge's chips or electronic circuits thoroughly with a soft, lint-free cloth or eyeglass wipe (without bleach).
• firmly reinsert the cartridge until you hear a small locking click.
