Stop illegible prints! Quick and easy solutions.

There's nothing more frustrating than a printer that prints out incomprehensible symbols instead of your perfectly formatted document. Don't panic! This guide explains why this happens and, more importantly, how to fix it quickly.
Why is your printer printing illegible characters and how to fix it?
1. An outdated or damaged printer driver
The driver is the translator between your computer and your printer. If it's incompatible, damaged, or not updated, it can cause erratic printing.
Solution : Update or reinstall your driver. Go to the manufacturer's official website and download the latest version compatible with your system.
2. Software conflicts
Some software, especially security or system optimization software, can disrupt communication between your PC and the printer.
Solution : Temporarily disable these software programs and try printing again. If the problem disappears, adjust the settings of the affected software program.
3. A hardware problem
A worn sensor, a defective ink cartridge, or an end-of-life toner cartridge can cause faulty prints. If the print sensor is used for too long, it can become clogged or worn, affecting the normal emission and adhesion of ink or toner.
Solution: Clean your printer through its maintenance program, check your cartridges and replace any damaged ones.
4. A saturated print queue
A document stuck in the queue can disrupt subsequent prints.
Solution :
1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc and validate.
2. Find Print Spooler, right click and stop it.
3. Go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete the files there.
4. Go back to Services, restart Print Spooler.
5. Try printing again.
